EDUCATION SYSTEM IN JAPAN
Japan’s study system comprises of 6 years of elementary school, 3 years of middle school, 3 years of high school and 4 years of university. Japan has mandated compulsory education for children aged 6 – 12 years. Japan provides opportunity to pursue undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral degrees in a wide range of fields of study.
TYPES OF INSTITUTION
In Japan, education for children is provided through around 19 thousand elementary schools, 10 thousand junior high schools and 5 thousand upper secondary high schools. Japan provides higher education through universities, junior colleges, technology colleges, special training schools and community colleges. There are currently 86 national, 98 public, and 619 private undergraduate level universities, and 14 public and 301 private junior colleges.
ADMISSIONS
Students would need to file application form along with mentioning some important details. Some documents that need to be attached with application form are proof of payment and high school certificate. Students might need to give EJU exam for securing admission in some Japan universities. Student Visas are issued for a period from 6 months to 2 years depending upon the course of study.
