ML Aggarwal Solutions for Class 9 Maths Chapter 16 Mensuration

The area is a measure of how much space there is on a flat surface. For example, two sheets of paper have twice the area of a single sheet, because there is twice as much space to write on.

Perimeter is the distance around the outside of a shape. The area measures the space inside a shape. The perimeter is the length of the fence. If the yard is 50 ft × 50 ft your fence is 200 ft long. The area is a measure of the space contained within an object. In the same yard, an area is a measure you need to be to start a lawn.

The perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape. To find the perimeter of a rectangle or square, you have to add the lengths of all the four sides. X is in this case, the length of the rectangle while y is the width of the rectangle. The perimeter, P, is P=x+x+y+y. We often find the perimeter when putting up Christmas lights around the house or fencing the backyard garden.

This chapter mainly deals with problems based on finding surface area and volume of cubes, cuboids and cylinders.
