Karl was an elephant. Karl was five months old when he came to the author. Karl was under a thatched roof which rested on thick tree stumps. Karl and the author were good friends. He explains how to train an elephant on various things like when to sit, eat, walk, walk slow, walk fast, etc. Kari once pushed the author into the stream. It was to save the life of a boy.
