Reproduction (or procreation) is the biological process by which new “offspring” (individual organisms) are produced from their “parents.” It is a fundamental feature of all known life that each organism exists as the result of reproduction. Reproduction in animals occurs through fission, budding, fragmentation, and parthenogenesis. Reproduction starts with the combination of a sperm and an egg in a process called fertilization. Reproduction ensures the continuity of various species on the Earth. In the absence of reproduction, the species will not be able to exist for a long time and may soon get extinct.
