Concise Selina Solutions for Class 6 maths Chapter 5 Natural Numbers and Whole Numbers

In mathematics, whole numbers are the basic counting numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, … and so on. 17, 99, 267, 8107 and 999999999 are examples of whole numbers. Negative numbers and Fractions are not considered "whole numbers." Whole numbers include natural numbers that begin from 1 onwards. Whole numbers include positive integers along with 0.

A natural number is a number that occurs commonly and obviously in nature. As such, it is a whole, non-negative number. The set of natural numbers denoted N, can be defined in either of two ways: N = {0, 1, 2, 3, ...}. All-natural numbers are whole numbers, but not all whole numbers are natural numbers since zero is a whole number but not a natural number. Natural and whole numbers in Maths have equal importance.
