    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPEARING IN JEE (ADVANCED) 2020
    Nationals:

    Eligibility for appearing in JEE (Advanced) is based on the performance given in JEE Main. Candidates should be out of 250,000 successful candidates.

    In the presence of "tied" rank/score in any category, the total number of candidates can be slightly greater than 2, 50,000.

    Age Criteria:

    For General or OBS-NCL category- Candidates should be born on or after 1 October 1995 (Candidate should be less than 25 years).

    For SC, ST and PwD candidates- Candidates should be born on or after 1 October 1990. Five years relaxation is given to reserved categories.

    The number of attempts: A candidate can attempt two times (Maximum) in consecutive years.

    Candidates must pass the 12th/ Equivalent exam by any recognized Board/ as listed by NTA with compulsory subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

    However, if the board's class 12th (or equivalent) exam result is declared after June 2018 for the academic year 2017-18. The candidates who appeared in the class 12th board examination in 2018, are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020, provided that they fulfil other requirements to qualify for the criteria. In case, If the board's class 12th (or equivalent) exam result is declared after June 2018 for the academic year 2017-18, but the result of the candidate is awaited, will not be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020 75% aggregate marks in 12th/equivalent exam to be eligible for JEE Main 2020 for general category student. Relaxation of 10% minimum marks for reserved category candidates.

    Candidates who are confirmed to a preparatory course in IITs for the first time in 2019 are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020.

    Candidates who paid the seat acceptance fee in 2019 but did not report at any reporting centre or exit before the last round of seat allotment or if the seat was cancelled before the final round of seat allotment are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020.

    JEE Advance 2020 does not support early admission in IIT, irrespective of whether/ not, he/she has been in the program or have accepted an IIT seat by reporting to a reporting centre in the past.

    Candidates whose admission was cancelled after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020.

    Foreign Nationals

    Those candidates who are not citizens of India (born or naturally) and are studying at 10 + 2 level abroad or equivalent at the time of registration for JEE (Advanced) 2020 are considered as foreign nationals. The seats allotted to foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of the total seats in each course. Foreign nationals are outside the purview of reservation of seats under the General-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PWD (Persons with Disability) categories mandated by the Government of India.

    Identity proof of the foreign national candidate is required as a citizenship certificate/passport.
