JEE Main Application Form


JEE Main application form is released online and candidates have to visit the official website to download and fill the form. As for JEE Main 2023 Session - 2, the registration process is open from 15th february and the last day to submit the online application form and its fees is 12th March 2023. Candidates have to follow the deadline strictly as the exam authority will not entertain any requests after the submission day is over. Candidates who have filled the JEE Mains 2023 registration form in session 1 don't need to register again for session 2. All candidates who have applied in session 1 and wish to apply for session 2 can login with their existing application number and password to fill the JEE Main 2023 session 2 application form.

All candidates should fill JEE Main 2023 application form carefully and should avoid making any mistakes. They have to input details like their name, contact number, category and they have to submit some scanned copy of documents as well for successfully completing the application process. However, all candidates should go through the JEE Main eligibility criteria defined by the NTA before filling the form. They should satisfy the criteria and then only they should fill the form. If the requirements are not met then the application will be rejected.

As per the guidelines set by the exam conducting authority, only one application form is provided per student. The JEE Main registration will be cancelled if more than one application form is submitted per student. We will learn more about the whole process and the requirements below.

Steps To Be Followed While Filling The JEE Main Form

The JEE Main application form has to be filled and submitted online. The following steps should be followed for successfully filling and submitting the application form:

Step 1: JEE Main Registration

The registration of JEE Main 2023 session 2 is open from 15th february to 12th March 2023. Candidates can go to the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in) and can complete their registration process. On the registration page of JEE Main, the following details of the applicant must be entered carefully: Nationality, Identification type, State, Name of the Student, Date of Birth and Gender of the Applicant. After filling all the above-mentioned details, enter the security pin and click on the submit button.

Step 2: Filling Of JEE Main Application Form

After successful registration, students will be redirected to the JEE Main application page where the following details have to be entered:

Exam Related Details:

In this section, the information related to the medium of question paper, mode of examination and the course for which they are applying for are to be provided.
Students appearing for offline mode of examination could opt for 4 centres according to their preferences whereas for appearing in the online mode of examination the applicant could opt for only one centre.

Personal Details Of Applicant:

In this section, the applicant to fill in personal information like parent's name, name of the candidate, nationality, state of eligibility, date of birth, category, gender, etc.
It is mandatory for candidates to enter their Aadhaar number, place of residence and mailing address.

Academic Details:

In this section, all the details related to the qualifying examination like the school name, school address, Class 10th and Class 12th passing year, etc. are to be provided.
Students appearing for the 12th class board exams also have to enter the details of their qualifying examination.

Address Details Of The Applicants:

In this section, applicants need to provide their complete address like mobile number, pin code, state, country, email address, etc.

Guardian Details:

In this section, all the details of their guardians and parents like occupation, qualification, annual income details, etc. are required.

Password Creation:

Before submitting the JEE Main form the students need to set a password which would be required in the future for signing in to the portal. The students also need to remember their answers to security questions which will be helpful in recovering their password in case if they forget it.

Step 3: Uploading Scanned Documents

The Applicants need to upload the scanned images of their signature and recently clicked passport sized photograph with the following specifications:

The signature of the applicant should be clearly visible and it should match with the signature of the applicant in Class 10th and 12th certificates. The photograph of the applicant should be black and white or coloured along with clear contrast. The photograph must have the name of the applicant along with the date of clicking. Polaroid photographs or photographs with cap or goggles are not acceptable.
Scanned copies of the PwD and category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) are also accepted, and they should be in PDF format between 50kb to 300kb (clearly legible).
After uploading the scanned documents, the applicants can review their application form by clicking on the review button. After making all the changes, the applicants could proceed with the payment options.

Step 4: Payment of JEE Main Application Fee

For making the payment, the applicants need to submit the details of either credit or debit card followed by the submit button. Application or registration fees for JEE Main form can also be paid through e-challan, UPI or net banking. Processing charges and GST, as applicable, are chargeable to the candidate (in addition to the examination fee) by the concerned bank/payment gateway integrator.

Step 5: Take a Print Out of the Confirmation Page

After the payment of application fees, the candidates can download and take a printout of the acknowledgment or confirmation page for future reference. If applicants have made an error while filling out the JEE Main form, the applicants are allowed to correct their mistakes online. However, the applicants are not allowed to change their mode of examination from online to offline mode, except that they would be allowed to change all other details.
In case the confirmation page is not generated after payment of the fee, then the candidate may have to approach the concerned bank/payment gateway (in the helpline number and e-mail given in the Information Bulletin) to ensure the successful payment or to obtain the refund of duplicate/multiple payments.

How merit ranking is determined when there is a tie?

1. if the candidate is acquiring equal marks/percentile, then among themselves merit will be determined to below sequence :-
(a) Candidate acquiring higher marks/percentile in Maths.
(b) Candidate acquiring higher marks/percentile in Physics,
(c) Candidate acquiring higher marks/percentile in chemistry,
(d) Candidate who is older is preferred.

There will be negative marking for both Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Questions. The maximum marks in the Exam are 300. Paper-2, is for admission in B. Arch. In paper-2, there are 25 questions from Mathematics, 50 from Aptitude test, 2 from Drawing Test; therefore, the total number of questions is 77. Each question will carry 4 marks, and each incorrect response gets (-1) negative marking. The duration of the Exam is 3 hours (180 minutes). No negative marking is done for numerical questions. The maximum marks in the Exam are 400. Paper-3, is for admission in B. Planning courses. In paper-3, there are 25 questions from Mathematics, 50 from Aptitude test, 25 from Planning Based Objective Type MCQs, therefore, the total number of questions is 100.
