The rank of the candidates has been decided keeping in mind the better of the two NTA scores of all the candidates appearing in the JEE (Main) 2023 examinations and as per the policy already available on the website.
JEE Main cut off 2023 is determined based on the number of seats, previous years cut off, the total number of candidates, the difficulty level of the exam and the total number of qualified candidates.
The qualifying cut off - Candidates who can achieve the qualifying cut off marks in JEE Main are eligible for JEE Advanced.
Admission cut off - Individuals who score minimum marks under the admission cut-off are eligible to present their candidature for admission in IITs.
The marks obtained in JEE Main 2023 will be generalized for ranking. The NTA will rank students based on their percentile marks, which will be calculated according to a pre-determined formula. i.e.
Total Percentile = 100 x (No.of candidates appeared from the session with raw score@ EQUAL TO OR LESS than T1 score) / (Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
Maths Percentile = 100 x (No.of candidates appeared from the session with raw score@ EQUAL TO OR LESS than M1 score) / (Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
Physics Percentile = 100 x (No.of candidates appeared from the session with raw score@ EQUAL TO OR LESS than P1 score) / (Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
Chemistry Percentile = 100 x (No.of candidates appeared from the session with raw score@ EQUAL TO OR LESS than C1 score) / (Total No. of candidates appeared in the session)
With the help of previous years question papers, candidates will get familiar with exam pattern, types of questions and weightage of questions. NCERT (11th & 12th) is the best book for preparation of JEE Main along with previous years question papers. This will help the candidate to score 200 plus marks. Physics is the most difficult section amongst all, but solving previous years question papers will reduce the difficulty level of the candidates and give a clear picture of the exam.
By regularly practising the previous year's question papers, students will develop a better understanding of the concepts. All the previous year's question papers are in PDF format and easy to download.
JEE Main 2023 is a national-level computer-based engineering entrance exam conducted by NTA (National Test Agency) for the purpose of admission to various colleges in India, such as Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology and other Government funded technical Institutes.
Before starting the preparation candidates should know what is given in the syllabus. Accordingly, we should plan our studies. Whenever we start our studies, there is only one thought comes to mind - how much we have to study and for how long? If your base of 11th and 12th class is clear, then you do not have to work that hard. And if it is not, then it is important to give 4 hours daily.
We should make the timetable of studies - according to the subject's weightage. If we know that mathematics takes more time and other subjects takes less time, then we will have to prepare our timetable accordingly as per the most preferred subject.
JEE is said to have a wide syllabus due to countless number of topics in Mathematics. Apart from this, the mathematics syllabus for JEE Main, Advanced and Board exams is different. As a result, managing time and study as per the syllabus is going to be more challenging for the candidates. So in this case, what you need is more and more practice.
Physics is the most difficult subject and entirely based on concepts and logics. Sometimes the subject can be difficult, especially when the questions start to be more conceptual. This is the reason why children gets stressed up before completing it fully.
Chemistry needs a lot of memorization and it has three parts: Physical chemistry, Organic chemistry and Inorganic chemistry. To learn and memorize chemistry you need to be more focused and logical at the same time.
It is really important to know the difficulty level of the question and weightage of different subjects.
For physics and chemistry NCERT is the best books to start with your preparation. But for maths, candidates can refer other books. Below are some reference books candidates can choose to start their preparations:
The NTA will evaluate the answer sheets using standard procedure, and after that, candidates can download their respective result sheets. All the candidates appearing in 2023 should regularly check for updates on the jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The JEE Main 2023 paper 1 result has been declared on jeemain.nta.nic.in. To see the result of JEE Main 2023, candidates have to enter their application number and date of birth in the given field.
All candidates get two attempts (First attempt and Second attempt) before qualifying for the next academic session.

The Joint Entrance Examination is a national level engineering entrance exam held twice a year for admission into various engineering colleges in India. The National Testing Agency conducts it.
Joint Entrance Exam is formed by two separate exams- JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a national-level computer-based engineering entrance exam conducted by NTA (National Test Agency) for admission to various colleges in India, such as Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology and other Government funded technical Institutes.
IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs and other GFTIs. Please note that for admission in IIT, a candidate has to pass JEE Main + JEE Advanced.
JEE Mains comprises of two papers, Paper - I and Paper - II. Candidates can choose either of the two. Both papers have multiple-choice questions. Paper - I is for the admission in B.E./B.Tech courses. Paper - II is for the admission in B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
Candidates can choose either of the two.
JEE Main 2023 Session - 1 exam done on 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 January 2023. JEE Main 2023 Session - 2 exam done on 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12 April 2023.
The validity of the result is one year.
All Candidates will not get the same sets of question papers.
The normalization process is an established practice prescribed by NTA for comparing candidate scores in multi-session papers adopted in other large academic selection tests conducted in India. In simple terms, it ensures that no candidate is at any loss or may even get benefit from this procedure.
1. if the candidate is acquiring equal marks/percentile, then among themselves merit will be determined to below sequence :-
(a) Candidate acquiring higher marks/percentile in Maths.
(b) Candidate acquiring higher marks/percentile in Physics,
(c) Candidate acquiring higher marks/percentile in chemistry,
(d) Candidate who is older is preferred.
2. The final ranking will be done after the tie is resolved.
5 steps need to be followed to fill the registration form 1. Fill online form, 2. Upload documents, 3. Select the exam centre, 4. Payment & 5. Submit.
JEE Main 2023 exam has been conducted in 290 cities in India and in 25 cities outside India and over 8.22 lakh candidates (Session 1 - January) have appeared in the exam.
